Dear Fellowship Member,
The DRE Search Committee, having carefully considered all applicants for our part-time DRE position, is pleased to announce that we have a candidate. The Committee received five applications and spent many hours together discussing each. We interviewed several candidates, concentrating on their enthusiasm and willingness to engage liberal religious education concepts and methods, as well as their availability to attend training events. We discussed the AUUF Long Range Plan for Religious Education with each candidate and evaluated the potential for the candidate to implement the plan.
The candidate that we have recommended to the AUUF Board is Terri Albrecht-Schmitt. Terri has been unanimously approved by the Board, who is responsible for hiring and dismissal, and the next step is a vote of affirmation by the members of the Auburn Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, following the opportunity to “Meet and Greet” the candidate on Saturday 7 June, 2008.
In recommending Terri, the Search Committee recognized that she has a wide range of experiences with the kind of “faith in action” commitment that we want to instill in our youth. She has been an active member of the Alliance for Peace and Justice and a Habitat for Humanity volunteer. Her volunteer work developing programs for children at the Louise Kreher Forest Ecology Preserve and at the Southeastern Raptor Rehabilitation Center demonstrates a tremendous love for nature and wildlife, which she enjoys sharing with others.
Terri expresses her convictions with action while demonstrating a commitment to diversity. She recognizes that there are many different spiritual paths and has a deep respect for the goals of the AUUF RE Program. She has experience directing volunteers, organizing events, and working with parents and children. We believe that she will work well with the RE Committee, the Minister, the RE teachers and the parents of the Fellowship to uphold the high standards of the current RE program and to implement the RE Long Range Plan.
You are invited to an informal “Meet and Greet” celebration for Terri at the Fellowship on Saturday, the 7th of June, 2008 from 4:00pm until 5:30. On Sunday, 8th of June (potluck Sunday), you will be able to vote on the candidate. The Search Committee will be happy to answer any questions you may have. If you are unable to attend the Meet and Greet event, please submit your vote via mail to the following address: Chair DRE Search Committee Auburn Unitarian Universalist Fellowship P.O.
